First Day of School

Hello everyone, welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a great summer. Here are some tips to help you get ready for the new school year:

  1. Get Organized – Get a planner, calendar, or a to-do list so you can keep track of your assignments, deadlines, and activities.
  2.  Set Goals – It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in the beginning of the school year. Setting some bite-sized goals will help you focus on small tasks ultimately leading to great academic results.
  3. Have Fun – School isn’t only about studying. Make new friends or find new hobbies! SEM offers a wide variety of extracurricular clubs that are open to all SEM students.

SEM FTC Advances to State

This weekend Iron Reign, SEM’s Varsity FTC Robotics team, competed in the North Texas Regional Championship. They won the Motivate Award and advanced to both the Texas State UIL Robotics Championship and the Texas State FTC Robotics Championship with a further chance to advance to the Worlds Championship. In addition, Anuhya Das was named one of the Region’s four FTC Dean’s List Finalists and was invited to the World’s Championship for the next round. The FTC Dean’s list is considered something like National Merit for robotics.

Competing were (from left)
Gabriel Deem, Anuhua Das, Aarav Kansupada, Davis(Sol) Sanoja, Georgia Dreher, Coach Virani, Trey Davis, Jai Sammpath, Krish Choudhary, Arun Sreekanth, Alexander Snyder, Vance Bonsell, Leonardo Ramirez:

Once again, the students and I would like to express our thanks to Mr. Palacios, Mr. Florczak, Mr. Williams and the STEM Department, and the SEM PTSA for supporting the program and the tournament we hosted. We are requesting school leadership to support the field trip for these students with appropriate approvals and permissions, and we look forward to working with Mr. Williams on trip arrangements.

The State Championships will take place March 23 through 26:
3/23 Travel, load-in
3/24 UIL Championship
3/25 FTC Championship day 1
3/26 FTC Championship day 2, Travel
Location Bell County Expo Center

Warmest Regards,

Karim Virani
